Our Meet the Team at Chef Works series gives you ‘behind-the-scenes’ insight into our talented team. One of the newest members to the Chef Works UK & Ireland family is Tom Atkinson, who’s joined us in 2020 as our new Business Development Manager. We’re delighted to have him on board!

Describe your job in one sentence:
To assist and advise clients on their front and back-of-house uniform requirements meeting their high expectations and delivering a service that retains current and secures new customers.

What’s the best thing about working in the hospitality industry?
The people, there are some amazing people in the hospitality industry.

And the worst?
Trying to lose a bit of timber with the endless cakes and treats on offer at meetings.

What’s a day in the life of Tom?
Drop off my little boy at nursery, sometimes drop my wife off at the train station then out on the road to see clients and distributors. Hopefully find somewhere nice for lunch then back on the road again. Collect my son from nursery then home for playtime, bath time and then bed.

Favourite item from the Chef Works collection?
I love the Valencia chef jacket – it’s got a sporty look that’s comfortable, durable and stylish.

Favourite restaurant?
Chez Bruce in London, UK.

Lifelong ambition:
To play at the famous Lord’s cricket ground in London, UK.

Weirdest job you ever had?
Cleaning latex out of tanks at a mattress factory. It was a summer job when I was a school, very hot and very smelly!

Best ever restaurant experience?
A delicious Grand Fruit de Mer in Arcachon in the south west France.

What makes you get up in the morning?
My little boy, he is up at 6am everyday!

Your best achievement at Chef Works?
To help develop the brand within the UK in to more amazing locations.

And finally, what would you choose as your death row meal?
BBQ Prawns with garlic butter with an ice-cold beer.
